ABCNews Spin Doctoring

ABCnews is an example of why the public is mistrustful of the media. They recently wrote an article about the upcoming November 2020 election. ABCnews claimed Trump is using the virus briefings as a de facto rally replacement.

Their article states:
"The ad shows a clip from March 17th of New York Governor Chris Cuomo praising the president’s early response saying, “His team has been on it.” But the quote is 10 days old and since then the governor has criticized the federal government’s response multiple times."
The ad takes similar liberties with other clips, including one featuring MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, who’s featured saying Trump “did what a president is supposed to do.” However, Scarborough was referring the the president’s tone during a press briefing over a week ago and has since harshly criticized the president and the federal government’s response.
The ad also comes after the president, members of his own campaign, and the RNC recently blasting Democrats, and specifically Joe Biden, for politicizing the coronavirus."
It should be noted that the news organization misidentified New York's governor. Andrew Cuomo is the governor of New York. ABC's Article makes it appear that Trump is attacking opponents while  they have said nothing against him  ABCNews completely ignored media attacks against him as well  Biden and Pelosi's attacks against him. They made it appear Biden was only replying to Trump when in fact his staff  initiated much of the insults. The news organization believes criticism should only be done against politicians who are not from their Party.

Additionally, ABC's article promoted New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

The news origination stated:
the president’s public response has been plagued by misstatements and haphazard suggestions of federal action that some have critics for causing even more panic among Americans.
On Sunday, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said that Trump’s off-the-cuff comment about a possible "short-term" quarantine of NY, NJ and parts of Conn, which the president later backed off of, “really panicked people.”
The ad shows a clip from March 17th of New York Governor Chris Cuomo praising the president’s early response saying, “His team has been on it.” But the quote is 10 days old and since then the governor has criticized the federal government’s response multiple times.
Currently Texas, PA, MD, Florida and Rhode Island are barring New York residents from staying in the state unless they are quarantined for 14 days. Connecticut issued a statement asking New Yorkers not to come into the state. ABCNews didn't print these facts. Additionally, California has issued a 'shelter in pace' order yet ABCNews did not claim that created panic. Lastly, the news organization did not tell the public that Gov. Cuomo could have had 16,000 more ventilators  if he didn't spend the money on a solar panel company, a light bulb company and free in state tuition for foreigners.

ABCNews has no sense of objectivity.  Their articles are constructed to promote subtle propaganda. The news organization will hide information they don't want the public to know. Sometimes they will post relevant information in obscure articles so as not to call attention to them yet avoid criticism they omitted facts.

ABCNews's tactics are exactly why the public increasingly views the media with suspicion.
